Now is as Good a Time as Ever to Be F*cking For Real

I have spent months trying to wrap my head around how to explain what this “blog” is and the kind of information it delivers to whoever reads it.

It seems best to describe it: impromptu, assertive, at times confrontational, observational, relatively random, a starting point for conversations, or a somewhat public journal where I openly think between different ideas, popular culture, and history.

It seems appropriate to say what it does: it introduces comparisons, it introduces connective tissue between things that may seem unrelated, at times it complains, at times it yells, it THINKS, it does not answer or resolve anything.

In a world where everyone is grappling for Andy Warhol’s prescient “15 minutes of fame” by rapid fire responding to popular touch-points in American culture and media—whether they have an honest opinion or not, otherwise known as rage baiting—I want to take a step back and write in a way that treats phenomena according to the real consequences it has on people.

In a world where most of what we understand and know of history and culture is the excrement of our emotional attachment to media representations and stuff, I want to clear the air. If I cannot change the world or my circumstances, I can surely clarify it.

In a world where everyone must bullsh*t themselves to survive, now is as good a time as ever to be f*cking for real.

My short essays should come at least once a month, I think that is the best I can promise as a part-time professor, freelance writer, and full-time administrative assistant. We’re all just putting it together.
